Valerie A. King is an American freelance photographer and sketch artist presently residing
in New York City. She has lived and worked within Asia and Europe taking both documentary
and scenic photographs for private use amongst NGO groups, artists and private galleries.

Though her work is diverse in various fields, her primary interest in photography and film is to expose
the ethnic cleansing of the Burmese refugees at the hands of the Burmese regime. Her photography
and emerging films are to document the horrifying and brutal living conditions
the refugees must endure while hiding in exile in the jungles of Burma or within the
thousands of camps along the Thai/Burma border which receive no UN assistance. Should you be

Valerie's photographs have been published and presented in diverse venues ranging from portraits
of Burmese refugees printed in the Japanese newspaper, Tokushima Shimbun 1996; Burmese refugee
portraits at the Cherbourgh Film Festival, France 1997; anti gay demonstration in the NY Post 2002;
portraits of musicians for the NY based Shimmerplanet CD 2006; the inset portrait of the artist for book titled
Kazuko Miyamoto, published by Matador, Madrid Spain, 2007; and portraits of the American Dance Guild
members for their 2007 newsletter.

Exhibitions of her work have been staged in galleries and art halls in Japan, France,
and New York. Valerie completed studies in photography at the SPEOS Paris Photographic Institute in 1997.
